What is Economy of Communion?

Principles of Organisation

  1. EoC-Asia Pacific shall be organised according to the principles of constant and mutual love, in true practice of communion, mutual giving and with a preference for the poor by choosing to eliminate inequality as its goal.
  2. EoC-Asia Pacific is founded on the principles of the Economy of Communion initiated by Chiara Lubich in 1991 and further developed within the Work of Mary (Focolare), a Catholic Lay Movement whose specific aim is to bring about a united world.
  3. Leadership shall always be exercised in service of the others and be inclusive of all classes.
  4. It has to be the home of communities throughout Asia Pacific.
  5. Its professionalism is a fruit of doing things out of love.
  6. It is an organisation focused on delivering impact for the common good.

EoC Asia Pacific is to be registered initially in the Philippines.

Since the EoC Asian Congress in 2016, there has been a growing desire to enhance the impact of those who believe in the idea proposed by UNESCO Peace Prize Winner: Chiara Lubich on shaping a fair and inclusive economy based on love for neighbour.

For the first time, we will organise ourselves as a region to include professionals, academia, entreprenuers, businesses, non- profit, youth so that we can amplify our impact and better prepare ourselves in a new world brought about by Covid-19.

If you have already been working for a united world through the economy and if you consider a neighbour in need is our challenge too, then we invite you to join us.

I believe in the transformative power of unity and a shared vision for a better world for both people and the environment,” said Damian Tang, Founder and CEO of Circular Cities Worldwide and incoming Vice Moderator of the Executive Council. “The collaborative actions and innovative approach behind this unity must be more intentional than ever before.”

The EoC is a social and economic initiative that aims to create a more equitable and inclusive economy by promoting business practices rooted in solidarity, sharing, and mutual benefit. Founded by Chiara Lubich in 1991, the EoC encourages businesses to reinvest profits into community development, support for those in need, and the growth of the enterprise itself.
